Fashion Week Backtrack: Day 1, Show 1- A LA DISPOSITION
I left DC Friday around 4am in my crazy comfy thrift-store dress and battered zip-up hoodie, got to Bryant Park right around 8am and pretended to ignore peoples snobby stares as I picked up my press credentials and set off to try and figure out this madness called Fashion Week.
The first show I attended was A La Disposition on 18th street. It wasn’t nearly as packed as I expected, which was fine with me because a- I have social anxiety b- I got to sit front row with Celebrity Stylists and the like.
The mood was fresh and ambient and the look somehow reminded me of an Alien’s interpretation of everything that happened last Spring. I don’t mean this in a bad way, I actually loved the show. However, I saw a lot of elements recycled from last year, only with an otherworldly “twist”. It might have been in the designers best interest to be a tad bit more innovative, but….I for one loved Spring ’06 and wasn’t ready to give up my modest necklines and brightly colored opaque tights so all of this is is fine by me.

i love this collection! the blouses have a victorian feel to them. and the tights! i must’ve been in a hole during last fall’s collection , because i did not notice the colored opaque tights. definitely adding that to my wardrobe this fall.
