Fashion Week Backtrack: Vlassis Holevas Spring 2007
I feel that it’s somehow pertinent information that I was drunk while at the Vlassis Holevas show. I’m not sure why. Maybe I think that because I was buzzed off of food deprivation and those free lightning lemonade stingers (or whatever they were called) that they give away inside the tents, that I should have been capable of enjoying any show, even if it was the Tyrone Biggums Crack Collection but it simply was not so — In fact, I would have much preferred the Tyrone Biggums crack collection. Or a Chapelle show re-run. Or anything but this.
This was simply a situation where even my “beer goggles” couldn’t aide my perception of these garments which I found to be dated, bridal and reminiscent of that horrid store called Cache’ that exists inside of most major malls.
I appreciate all of the hard work that went into the details of the clothing and it was definitely well constructed, but in terms of taste, it was just not something that I was able to enjoy at all.
