Second Life Fashion Blog

So, I don’t profess to understand or know much about this whole ‘Second Life‘ phenomenon except that it’s a game (I’m sorry, ‘Internet-based Virtual World’) that certain gamer types seem to be really into and that one of my favorite bands, AIR, has some sort of virtual presence in their little world.
–but somehow I accidentally ran across a Second Life Fashion Blog today, which I found pretty amusing. When it comes to “teh interwebs”, I do believe that I have officially seen it all now. Now, I’m not necessarily making fun, because that would be ignorant since I’ve never tried the game…er, virtual world. OK, so I am making fun *a little bit* (in my head anyway)…but maybe I’m just jealous since I don’t even have enough time for my First Life?

Oh, we got over that whole “no time for my first life” thing by just giving up on ever leaving the house.
Feel free to make fun. It *is* a very strange world we inhabit, but if you’re going to be one of the million plus people inhabiting it, we’d like you to please leave the hoochie at home!
Anyone can join Second Life and be a Hootchie Mama in barely-there clothes, what *really* counts are those people with enough real life taste to find the ‘couture’ in Second Life. Lindenlifestyles paves the way for those of us who do not wish to wear pleated miniskirts with stilleto fur-trimmed boots.
If you find yourself joining the virtual world that is Second Life, you may appreciate them as much as I do!
Stella, I personally invite you to join Second Life. I stumbled across your blog while searching for SL-related fashion blogs. Love your writing. Your real world experience would definitely lend a unique and grounded perspective to the world of virtual fashion. Drop in and say ‘Hi’ sometime.
ha, I’ve never played SL myself, but that SL fashion blog somehow reminds me of Polyvore. Except Polyvore is more for real. well, more or less…
I heard that some major corporations are watching how Second Life grows and some are even setting up shop inside ‘the game’ in order to get more attention. It’s interesting to say the least.

It is a huge market, I just think everyone is crazy but its basically free money for anyone that can get involved so good for them
nice looks cooool
Well… I have my second life since a couple of years and I can tell you… I’m starting my SL fashion firm as a real life project {I’m a real life Designer} which wants to use Second Life to make my design {fashion as much as furniture} “live”… Second Life IS NOT A GAME but a creative platform where you can use your professional instruments and the “in-world” instruments to create when in the real life is more expensive to make moke-ups an prototypes… you can see how your products will look like , the impact on people, the way people live with your products and feel about your products.
The misunderstanding about Second Life is just in the name itself… of course million people used SL as a game… but in real life not everybody is an artist, not everybody has a talent or a creative profession… the passion of he most people is put into strange hobbies like collecting virtual sexual encounters and fun but in Internet we perfectly know porn industry found an obvious new market and a new life… porn industry would take advantage of any technology for its own profit!
The good thing is that where we have demand we have also an offer, if the BDSM people need sexy latex clothing and “to die for” latex boots we have who makes them. Lot of people who have that inspiration to create and the strength to start a business {because small or big we have business and real money is spent and made in there} in this case can find in Second Life the best stage for visibility and success. I can suggest to have a look to my friend’s Elettra Gausmann {name on Second Life, Elettra in reality is Italian… surprise surprise!} and her fashion firm Orange Creations or the sculpted shoes by Stiletto Moodies or the perfect furniture made by Abiss… for not talking about my own creations of course. If you do you will understand that inside Second Life we have a faithful reproduction of the real life. Second life isn’t an alternative to the first life but a natural extension of the first life itself.
Like in the first life and in the “real” world we have the bad and the good, so we have bad design and good design in Second Life as well. You must have to know how and where to search the quality, then you gonna find it.
And don’t worry if you end up in some place where guys have “free willies” and pixelated hookers… the first ones are usually naked… you won’t find anything good there… the second ones are those who can afford the most expensive clothes and the sexiest highest heels in the whole Second Life… do not be ashamed to ask them some direction towards the best of the fashion in-world!
I personally suggest you the italian sims and communities in Second Life… you gonna feel like walking in Montenapoleone during the Week of Fashion, with avatars looking alike models wearing the best of the best…
Enjoy!
