Trashionista Can’t Live Without:

Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths with biospheric complex

Busy days and fall weather leave us lagging. When we get home, sometimes the only thing we want to do after brushing our teeth, is throw on our organic cotton pajama pants and fall into bed. Who has time for their full-on skin routine 7 days out of the week? When we are exhausted it can be such a pain to lather, wash, dry and tone, but then we also don’t want to wake up broken out with a pillow covered in eyeliner!

Which is why we can’t live without a pack of Skyn Iceland’s Glacial Cleansing Cloths by our bed. They’re natural, cruelty-free, 100% vegetarian and infused with Icelandic glacial waters that cleanse and detoxify stressed skin. Yet another reason to love the Icelandic. As if Björk and Sigur Rós weren’t enough…

A little about us and our makeup routine: We love high-end makeup but we don’t love paying a lot for it. We also don’t have a lot of time, literally. Between running a family, a household, 3 businesses and making time for our beloved Twin Peaks, we’re relegated to setting a timer on our phone for a whopping 10 minutes (MAX) when getting ready.

Here’s our little secret to spending only $100 on your entire high-end beauty routine and still looking fabulous, even if you only have 10 minutes or less to get ready– — we are seriously amazed by this site and wish we found it earlier! Everything is up to 85% off retail prices. No lie. Our total for every product you see here was $93.93!

Smooth Like Buttahhhh…

September 28, 2009

The weather in New York is quickly changing.  Just a couple weeks ago I was sweltering in my apartment.  Now I find my skin and lips thirsting for a little more attention.  I picked up a couple great items from Korres in hopes of making my lips kissable again.

Korres has created Lip Butter, a wonderful shea butter and rice wax combo that practically melts on my lips.  This formula uses Shea Butter to intensely hydrate which helps to restructure the surface of the lips.  The Rice Wax locks in the moisture which is what makes it last so long.  One application lasted me nearly the entire day.

I got the Jasmine Lip Butter which is a light cool pink color.  The color is so sheer and just emphasizes the natural color of my lips.  I also used a lip liner to intensify the color a bit and it blended very easily with the Lip Butter.  I plan on picking up the other 6 shades very soon and will keep them all in my purse.

Look out winter.  I’ve come prepared!

Hot Lips = Goth Lips

I have been seeing blood stained lips everywhere.  With shows like True Blood, Vampire Diaries and the Twilight films being so popular, it’s no wonder we are seeing the influence all over the place.  A few brands have even launched black lipsticks.  There are a few favorite products to help you wear these dark tones while still keeping it sexy and not too spooky.

1. Chinatown Glossy Pencils in Mystery – by Lipstick Queen.  This line of moisturizing, draw on gloss in a pencil was inspired by NYC’s Chinatown and Roman Polanski’s film Chinatown.  Mystery is a sheer vibrant purple.  The sheerness lets the color work with your natural lip color to let you inner vamp shine through.

2. Wild Rose 24-hour Moisturizer – by Korres.  We all know Vampires never see the sun, well this Moisturizer quickly and effectively heals and illuminates your skin using wild rose oil, pure vitamin C and Phytic Acid to diminish fine lines and hyper- pigmentation from sun damage.  This will help bring your skin back to it’s untouched by the sun vampy glow in no time.

3. Emulsion Lip Exfoliant by Smashbox Cosmetics. Get your lips ready for these deep tones by using a sugar based, peppermint infused lip exfoliant.  Lips will feel instantly soft and ready to be bitten!

4. Fast Ride Lipstick – by Nars Cosmetics.  A beautiful mulberry color which comes in 3 different finishes.  The satin finish would be my best recommendation.  Is deeply pigmented and it provides lip conditioners which keep your pout so moist while the color lasts all day.
