John Galliano’s Spring 2007 Show in Paris started off simple enough with clean white suits and bold sequined eyebrows but got progressively complicated, ultimately ending in undecipherable mayhem. While some of it may seem a bit “over the top”, art at this level makes me think that I would rather skip next New York Fashion Week and save my pennies for gay ol’ Paree. What a blast it must have been to witness this kind of mayhem in the flesh!

Metro.Pop’s August/September issue featured a beautiful editorial called “Seeing Double” (shot by Sarah McColgan and Styled by Beba Knight), that featured several models sporting Butter Yellow Oxfords by Wunderkind. At New York Fashion Week, Men’s-style Oxfords seemed to be the footwear of choice as well, showing up everywhere from the Sabyasachi runway show to the Vena Cava presentation. Just in case you are unfamiliar with the term ‘Oxford’, it is a lace up shoe with a thin sole, that originated in Scotland and is typically constructed of heavy leather. It is generally thought of as a Men’s Dress Shoe — I believe my Father used to wear them to church.
This is a look that works on the streets as well, The Sartorialist captured a really great shot in Paris of Teen Vogue’s Gloria Baume rocking oxfords with white socks and her trench coat. I’m loving it! My pick for really wonderful, high-quality, yet affordable Oxfords, is the ‘Gretta’ by Delman Shoes, made of tumbled-grain calfskin: They come in Black, Khaki, Light Brown, Natural and are available for $159.00 at BlueFly.com Filed under: Fashion and Fashion Week and Inspiration and Menswear and Models and Outfit Ideas and Runway Shows and Shoes and Shopping and Stella Recommends Comments: 6 Comments |

I HATE Jason Wu. I hate him because he is only 23, really cute, succesful and just oozing talent. He’s got it going on in all areas and for that, I cannot stand him. Okay, I don’t really hate him — how could I? Just look at his sweet face, it’s impossible. But DAMNIT, I am jealous and I’m not ashamed to admit that.
While everyone was excited about Zac Posen, I was excited about Jason Wu, I felt like I was going to pee my pants, I absolutely could not wait. I don’t just like his clothes, I also enjoy saying his name: Is it time for Jason Wu yet? Are you going to Jason Wu? Jason Wu, Wooo woo wooo! Why? Probably because I’m immature and his name reminds me of The Wu Tang Clan and old Busta Rhymes song. Whatever.
Now, let’s talk about what REALLY matters here; his collection…and what a collection it was! Beautiful, clean, pristine. Crisp timeless perfection for all of you modern day Jackie O’s out there!
Just when I thought that I never wanted to see a bolero again, he made the one pictured above that captured my attention and made me re-evaluate my opinion. The look was obviously very tailored, monochromatic and a dramatic difference from a lot of the slouchy, waistless looks we have been seeing at the other shows. This is an instance where I feel that the clothes really speak for themselves so I’m not going to bother to say much about them. Just look and revel in their beauty as I did. Wu obviously excels in the realm of nostalgic evening wear.
Perfection. What I didn’t like: The makeup Unrelated Gossip: Did anyone else notice Top Model’s Nole Marin and Style Me’s John Mcnulty canoodling in front row?
